William T. Kelley, 81, native of Dorset Hollow, and retired Arlington mail messenger, died Sunday afternoon at his home in Arlington after a long illness. The funeral will be held at 10 am Wednesday at St. Margaret Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Arlington, where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered by the Rev. Gerald T. Buckley, pastor. A prayer service at the family residence at 9:30 will precede the funeral Mass. Burial will follow in the family plot, St. Jerome's Cemetery, East Dorset. Born Sept 21, 1891, to William and Elizabeth (McPhilomy) Kelley, he received his education in Dorset Hollow school and married Hazel Duncan at the former St. Columban's Roman Catholic Church in Arlington. He was a communicant of that church and of the present Catholic church in Arlington, St. Margaret Mary's. Until his marriage he operated the Kelley family farm, and later was employed at the Mack Molding Co. He was a mail messenger in Arlington for 23 years. Survivors, in addition to his widow, are a daughter, Elizabeth Palmer of Pownal; a grandson, Dale Palmer of Pownal; six sisters, Sarah McLaughlin, Clara Kelley and Anna Cross, all of Rutland, Teresa McCoy of Bennington, Alice Stokes of New York City and Dorothy Gaffney of Port Charlotte, Fla., several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may pay respects at the Kelley residence in Arlington this evening after 7, and Tuesday at their convenience. Fr. Buckley will conduct a wake prayer service at the residence Tuesday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arlington Rescue Squad. Mahar & Son of Bennington is in charge of arrangements.
