Facts and Events
William (Bill) is mentioned in the "Home Folks" family history that can be read in the "Historical Stories" section - see Table of Contents. This tells of his service in the Confederate Army. William, age 21, was founding in the 1850 Jackson County VA census living in the same hotel as his father, Daniel. It appears that both his mother and stepmother have died and the family has broken up with the younger children being farmed out to other families, with the exception of his sister Charlotte who had married. William and wife, Mary Ann Staats are later found to have migrated to Jackson County, Missouri and are buried in the same Sibley Cemetery as his half-brother Leonard M. Jackson and family. Researcher Anne Mallinson has sent a transcription of the Jacksons in this cemetery which says: "#421, Jackson, W. S., no other data, stone in very poor condition." William and Mary Ann's son Willie is listed just below in $422. 1870 Census Fort Osage, Jackson, Missouri Post Office: Napoleon City, Lafayette Co., MO Jackson, Wm. 37 M W Farmer OH Jackson, Mary A. 34 F W keeps house VA (WV) Jackson, Mary J. 14 F W at home VA (WV) Jackson, David 13 M W at home VA (WV) Jackson, Charlotte 12 F W VA (WV) Jackson, Virginia B. 9 F W VA (WV) Jackson, Nancy A. 7 F W VA (WV) Jackson, Alma 5 F W VA (WV) Jackson, Monroe 3 M W VA (WV) Jackson, William 6/12 M W (Dec) MO (Willie died in 1875) 1880 Census Fort Osage, Jackson, Missouri Freeman, James W M 43 Single Farmer Ireland Ireland Ireland Jackson, Mary A.
