He came to Red River County from Mississippi with the Geer family late in 1836, landed at Jonesboro, moved to Blossom Prairie, and finally settled at Maple Springs (now Bogata). On 3 Aug 1836, he received Conditional Cert. no. 130 for 1,280 acres, which he located at Maple Springs.
