Lot 156 - William Howell from Com. of Jeff., Dec. 26, 1805. William was the son of John Howell, Sr. He was b. 1785-94 (s/b perhaps 1772-1782) and listed on the 1810 census. He signed the petition to form Rutherford Co. in 1803, and received the rank of Capt. on Aug. 22, 1811 in the County militia. He took over the running of his father's mill which was on the road from "Franklin and to cross Stewart's Creek 1/8 mile below William Howell's Mill and intersect the road to Jefferson 1¼ miles north of the mill, 1807". William Howell died ca. 1814. His wife was Mary/Polly.
