William Hornet was born in 1857 and baptised the following January at Wheathampstead in Hertfordshire. He was the first child of a plaiter named Maria Hornet. William's father's name is not recorded on his baptism. Sadly, William died as a child of two years old, being buried at Wheathampstead on 2nd February 1860.
