William Hornet was baptised on 12th May 1728 at Walkern in Hertfordshire, son of Elizabeth Hornet, formerly Warner, and her husband Benjamin Hornet. They had married four months earlier at Chesfield, three miles west of Walkern. At the time of William's baptism they were living at Shephall, another nearby village, where they would later have several other children baptised. It is not clear why they had William baptised at Walkern rather than Shephall. William has yet to be traced after his baptism.
