William Henderson & Elizabeth Swisher

WILLIAM HENDERSON (JAMES5, DAVID4, WILLIAM3, WILLIAM2, JOHN1) was born 07 May 1810 in Augusta, Virginia, and died 04 February 1892 at the home of his son-in-law, George W. Smith in Lorentz, Upshur County, West Virginia. He married ELIZABETH SWISHER, the daughter of John Swisher and Catherine Trout, on 09 September 1834 in Augusta, Virginia. She was born 05 December 1813 in Augusta County, Virginia, and died 07 January 1894 in Lorentz, West Virginia at the home of her son-in-law, George W. Smith.

Notes: Elizabeth was originally a member of the Presbyterian Church, but joined the M.E. Church (Point Pleasant) when she came to Upshur County. Obituary which appeared in the Buckhannon Delta on Friday, 19 January 1894:

Mrs. Elizabeth Henderson wife of the late William Henderson was born in Augusta Co., VA December 5, 1813, and entered into the higher life at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. G.W. Smith of Lorentz, Jan 7, 1894, in the 81st year of her age. She was married to William Henderson in 1834. Unto them were given seven children, four of whom are still living. Mrs. Henderson professed saving faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Presbyterian Church. When she came to this county about 55 years ago, she then joined the M.E. Church and was a consistent member of the Point Pleasant Church at the time of her death. Rev. J.W. Hollen conducted the funeral service from Rev. 22-4. G.L.S.

JOHN DAVID HENDERSON was born 20 November 1837 in Staunton, Virginia and died 22 May 1890.

LUCY HENDERSON was born about 1841 in Lewis County, West Virginia, and died 16 January 1913 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was married by Rev. Farris to Jacob C. Eckess, the son of Jacobus Eckes and Mary Catherine Beachler, on 06 November 1867 in French Creek, Upshur County, West Virginia. He was born 15 September 1842 in Lewis County, Virginia and died 16 March 1927 in Dinsmore, Duval County, Florida.

ELIZABETH D. HENDERSON was born in 1845.

PAIGE FRANKLIN HENDERSON was born on 07 February 1849 at French Creek, Virginia and died on 13 July 1918 in Volga, West Virginia.

EMMA L. HENDERSON was born about 1852 and died in 1873.

MARTHA HENDERSON was born about 1856.
