William attended Southwest Baptist College, Bolivar, Missouri. He graduated in 1959 with an Associates in Art Degree in History and Theology.

William then attended William Jewell College, Liberty, Missouri. He graduated with a Bachelor in Ministry Degree.

William enjoyed gardening.

    Rev. W. A. "Bill" Harris went to be with the Lord on Feb 19, 2007 at The Baptist Home in Chillicothe, Missouri, where he had resided since July 29, 2005. Bill was born February 11, 1920 in Liberal, Missouri, to William David Harris and Mortie Alma Cloud Harris. He was the fourth of nine children. He grew up north of Golden City, Missouri and attended grades 1 - 8 at Fairmount, Missouri. He was licensed at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Carthage, and ordained by the First Baptist Church of Bolivar, Missouri. He received his GED and was a graduate of Southwest Baptist College, William Jewell College, and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also served as Pastor of Rayville Baptist Mission, Rayville, MO; Mt. Etna Baptist Mission, Bolivar, MO; Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Weston, MO; First Baptist Church, Smithton, MO; First Baptist Church, Bogard, MO; First Baptist Church, Oregon, MO; First Baptist Church, Oronogo, MO; and was on staff at the First Baptist Church of Carthage before his retirement.

    Bill married Evelyn Frances Turner on May 20, 1939 at Carthage, she survives. They were blessed with five children: William Wayne Harris of Kearney, MO., Richard Francis Harris of Rayville, MO., Allen Herman Harris of Brandon, FL; Patty Lou "Harris" Carter of Norborne, MO; Marlyn Kay "Harris" Ford who passed away in 1985. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren, and one brother Gerald Eugene Harris, Riverview, FL.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
