    Chester, Nov. 20. -

William A. Hardin, Sr., a well known planter of Chester county, died last night at his home four miles southwest of the city, a little before midnight. He was 63 years of age. He had been in declining health for the past few months and his death came as a relief to much suffering.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock in the western part of the county at the Calvary Baptist church by the Rev. J. E. Freeman of the Blackstock Baptist church.

The burial will be made in the graveyard of the church.

Mr. Hardin was one of the county's most alert and progressive planters, and was an extensive cattle dealer. He was born in Chester county and was a son of the late Jesse H. Hardin. He was a consistent member of the Woodward Baptist church.

He is survived by three sons, Jesse H. Hardin of Columbia and W. A. Hardin Jr., and Thomas Hardin of this city; and three daughters Misses Elmira, Josie and Lilly; one brother, Thomas Hardin; three sisters, Mesdames J. F. Oats and J. H. Yarborough and Miss Hattie Hardin. His wife, Mrs. Margaret Shannon Hardin, died about a year ago.
