He signed the first land warrents at Dorchester, MASS and was a representative to the General Court.
"Invt. £423-00-09. Taken by Matthew Grant, Benhamin Newbery, David Wilton & William Haydon. The Legatees: Elizabeth the Widow; The children: Anne, age 11 years & 9 months; Hannah, 10 years; John 8; William, 6 years; Hezekiah, 4 years; Josiah, 2; and Nathaniel, 15 weeks.
"My Brother expressed these words unto me & my wife before his decease: that he would that his house & halfe his land should be and remain to two of his Children. Further, that he had £40 with his wife & he would be as good as his word to make it up Four Score at 'iter' £80 to her. John Gaylord."
Distribution: £80 to widow, 72-6-6 to eldest son, 33 to eldest daughter , 30 to 2nd daughter, 30 to 3d daughter, 42 each to the 2-5th sons. Distributors were John Porter, Jacob Drake (brother-in-law of brother John?), and John Gaylord.
