Facts and Events
Listed in the 1860 Walker County, Texas census as William D. Folkner, age 31, carpenter, born GA. Living in his mother Rosannah's household with Emeline, age 18 (sister?); Martha, age 6, Jinnetta, age 2, Lavanda, age 1 (said to be the children of Jacob, probably William's brother?); Eliza Jones, age 39 (William's sister), Andrew Templeton, age 9, Jerome S. Templeton, age 7, Angeline A. Jones, age 2 (Eliza's children. However, family info has her second marriage to be to a Smith, not a Jones). Next door is the household of Francis M. and Lamsey C. Colbourn and children, along with an Amanda C. Folkner, age 8. Perhaps Lamsey is another sister? Not sure who Amanda would belong to. Listed in the 1870 Robertson County, Texas census, Precinct no. 4, enumerated November 13th, page no. 210, Dwelling 1481, Household 1669 as W. D. Folkner, age 46, farmer, born GA. With wife and children. Next door to them is Wm Folkner, age 23, born AL; and Mary M. Folkner, age 17, born MS; married in January. Nephew, perhaps? From clafleur@@austin.rr.com: William Daniel Faulkner married Josephine Duncan on March 25, 1852, in Walker County. Josephine had been born in Alabama in March of 1836. Although the family is unsure of the given name of her father, her mother's name was Manuerah (or, Maneuvah), and later married a Harrison in Alabama, then J. W. Rhodes, in Walker County.
