Acquisition of Land in Augusta County, VA:
- William Campbell appears to have acquired a tract of land in Beverley Manor (as shown in the Hildebrand Map above), adjoining the tract of his father, Patrick Campbell, prior to July 1740. This land is referenced in the Orange County, Virginia Deed records listed below as adjoining the tracts of Robert Brooke and Joseph Reed, but the specific deed for this tract is apparently not in Orange or Augusta County records.

- Pages 43-44. Will of William Campbell of the County of Augusta being an a sick and low condition, dated 18 Nov. 1744.
- My tract of land on roan oak be sold and ₤5 of its price by given to my brother Charles Campbell and two thirds of the remainder to my daughter Mary Ann Campbell. The other third part to my well beloved wife Mary Anne Campbell.
- Unto my father Patrick Campbell a learge neatruall peacing mear, and the colt that now sucks said mear to my daughter Mary Anne.
- Unto my wife one chessnut culered mear with a white face and one chessnut culered stallion and one bay mear and one bay mear two years old and my riding horse.
- To my father Pat. Campbell on bay gelding of two years old and one broad cloth coat and one pair [sic].
- Unto my brother Patrick Campbell one damask jacet and my hate. [prob. should be "hat".]]
- All my cow kind, with one gray mear and her colt to my wife to be by her disposed of as she shall se cause.
- Unto my brother Charles the colt that came of the mear named Lightfoot last spring.
- To my feather in law (s/b father-in-law) William Buckannon (Buchanan) my sadle.
- My daughter be brought up and educated by my wife. Not part of her leageces be converted or made use of for her education. If she dies in her nonage her legacies to be distributed. My father Patrick Campbell have the sole right and properto to be disposed of at his pleasuer.

- Vol. 1 - Campbell vs Campbell.--Bond of Patrick Campbell to Maryan (Marion) Campbell, widow and relict of William Campbell, dated 1745. Assignment on back to John Campbell, dated 1747, and signed Maryan Buchanan.
- Page 309.—4th October, 1760. Robert Brooke and Mary, of Essex County, to John Hunter, £40, 500 acres conveyed to Robert by Beverley, 26th November, 1741; corner Wm. Campbell; James Miles' line; Wm. Robinson's corner; Robt. Moffet's line. Teste: Robert ( ) Hunter, Wm. Palmer, Samuel Hunter, John ( ) McCallam. (Note: this William Campbell had died many years prior to this deed in 1760, need to research further).
