The surname is sometimes spelled: PRATORIUS with an umlaut over the "A".

Lettweiler is a tiny village in the Palatinate. It is located approximately 4 miles north of WALDGREHWEILER, from where many of the early pioneers of Jefferson and Bucks Township migrated.

Valentin was a farmer. There is a "V. Pretorius" on a Bucks Township plat map, in Section 12, near FIAT, Ohio.
