Facts and Events
Tipton was apparently named for his mother's brother, Tipton McCracken. The 1880 lists a child with this same birthday as Richard C. Jackson. As his mother said in 1900 that she has had 6 children, it appears to this author that either the enumerator had the child's name wrong or the parents decided to renamed him for his Uncle Tipton. I have found no other record for a Richard C. Jackson. 1880 Census Dist 121, Precinct 3, Montague Co., Texas Jackson, John W M 24 Married farmhand TX TN TN Jackson, Darthula D.
