Timothy Jerome arrived at Meriden, Connecticut with a royal grant for a monopoly on the salt-making in the area. He died rich and was buried on Buckwheat Hill overlooking the land he owned. An inventory of his estate included a beaver hat, a punch bowl, a silk handkerchief, a large number of books, and four slaves named Pomp, Prince, Rose and Jenny. References
