↑ While no parents are named on the death record, the 1900 census says they had 6 children, 5 surviving. So in addition to Russel, Samuel, Florence and Matilda shown in the 1900 census, and Joanna Esther Wheeler whose birth was recorded and who married in 1899, there does need to be one additional child, and this one seems to fit due to location and age. It seems to be the consensus of various unsourced Internet sites. Note that there were apparently two stillborn children in 1876 that cannot be reconciled at all with the census count with or without Thomas, and it is assumed they weren't counted.
