link On 12:10 month 1661, Thomas Townsend deposed aged 60 years citing EQCR 2:330-31. He probably had a first wife unrecorded father to all of his children except Andrew. Andrew is the only child cited in a Deed as a child by his wife Mary and Andrew was clearly his youngest son. Thomas was called brother-in-law by John Newgate of Boston but the relationship has not been discovered. The only certain children were Thomas, Samuel, John and Andrew each cited specifically as such in Deeds [Essex Deeds 4:106; CHT 82; Essex Deeds 3:173; CHT, 81]. However, he left no will or probate records that survive. A Robert Townsend was in Portsmouth but no relationship is known. A Lydia Townsend of Lynn, servant to Mr. Ruck was named in the will of John Milles of Boston and she married at Lynn Lawrence Copeland. An Elizabeth Townsend of Lynn married at Lynn 22 10m: 1669 Samuel Merriam. Lydia and Elizabeth are likely his daughters based on age and marriage in Lynn but no proof of this is known.

Based on his deposition he was probably born 1600/1].
