"Sadler -- At his residence, in this city, on the 31st of December, THOMAS R. SADLER. Just as the old year bids farewell to earth the generous soul of one of the truest and noblest of men quit its tenement of clay and soared aloft to meet the God who gave it. As a friend, he was sympathetic and agreeable; as a husband, kind; as a father, affectionate; as a neighbor, obliging, and as a representative of the people in the various offices of trust and honor, which he had held, none could be found more incorruptible than Thos. R. Sadler. We sympathize with his bereaved family in their sad affliction, for, though our loss as a member of this community is great, it is nothing compared to theirs. And could the wishes and prayers of this community, who loved him so much, have prevailed against the assaults of the Grim Monster, Death, many years of usefulness would have been added to the life of our friend. But they could not, and we are constrained in humility to exclaim, "Thy will, O father! not ours, be done."
