  4.   Source:Ward, Andrew Henshaw. Genealogical History of the Rice Family : Descendants of Deacon Edmund Rice, Who Came from Barkhamstead, England and Settled at, p. 23, notes a record of the death of Mary, wife of Thomas, in Watertown 13 May 1677 and based on this, supposes a first wife Mary. On p. 9, this same death is identified as Mary, 3rd wife of Thomas' uncle Joseph. The published Watertown records do say Joseph, and it appears all evidence that Thomas had a first wife Mary are the result of Ward's bookkeeping error. The Edmund Rice Association only shows one wife, his cousin Anna Rice.
