    Porter, Thomas, Farmington. Died 28 January, 1718-19. Invt. £421-10-01. Taken by Timothy Porter and Isaac Cowles. Will dated 18 December, 1718.

    The last will and testament of Thomas Porter is as followeth: I give and bequeath to Abigail, my well-beloved wife, 1-3 part of my dwelling house, or two rooms and cellarage needful, and 1-3 part of my homelott which my house stands upon, and the 1-3 part of all my land which is hereafter given to my two younger sons Robert and Benjamin, all which above-mentioned particulars I give the use and improvement during her natural life. Further, I do give to my wife 2 cowes and 10 sheep and all the swine for the use of the family; 1-3 part of my household stuff to be at her own dispose, to give to my own children. Further, I do give unto my beloved children as followeth: To my son William, 1 1-2 acres of land next to Samuel Smith's land and Nathaniel's land; I give further two sheep. Item. I do give to Nathaniel land as followeth: Beginning at the north end and soe five rod wide, and soe to run north and south the length of my land, and so to take in that Deacon Porter did improve, and one acre of land in Paquabuck, and the two lotts that lie upon the west side of the river at Nodd [present Avon], and four sheep. Item. I do give to Robert and Benjamin all the remainder of my land, after my wife's decease, to be equally divided betwixt them. Also, I give to the above-named Robert and Benjamin two yoke of oxen and the horses and the husbandry tackling and tools, they paying all my debts that are lawful. I do give unto my daughter Abigail £24, one cow and one yearling hefer, and to my daughter Elizabeth £22 and one young hefer. I make my well-beloved wife and my son Robert Porter sole executors.
