Death? |
Bef Aug 1872 |
remarriage of wife Elizabeth |
The death of Thomas's wife Juli Ann (Slusher) is undocumented but supported by deed records for Warren County, Indiana. Juli Ann last appears as a co-signer for a deed of sale in 1847.[10] When Thomas sells the remainder of his property in Warren County in 1856, his wife and co-signer is Elizabeth.[12] The only Thomas Meadows of the approximate right age and birth place with a wife named Elizabeth who appears in the 1860 US Census is in Harrison County, Iowa.[18]. Living nearby (HH 482, Fam 428) is a Cornelis Meadows of the right age to be Thomas's nephew.
Thomas’s brother-in-law Eli Slusher had settled in Franklin Township, Fremont County, Iowa by 1845, and there is a listing for a T. Meadows in Franklin Township in the 1852 Iowa State Census. Although the evidence that the Thomas Meadows of Indiana and the Thomas Meadows of Iowa are the same is circumstantial, there is (so far) no evidence to contradict that conclusion or suggest an alternative explanation.
