    Thomas Huckins (c. 1617-1679), Barnstable, Mass., m. c. 1642 Mary Wells. They were ancestors of Rutherford Hayes through their daughter Mary. With his second wife Rose, he was the ancestor of George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.

Otis does not give a specific date, only "was born in the year 1617", i.e., most likely calculated from his age at death. About his origins, Otis only says "There is some evidence that he was of Dorchester", based as the explanation on p. 2:58 explains, on the fact that his land grant was in an area generally given to men known to be from Dorchester. In others words, any information about his origins are purely speculative.]
