Facts and Events
Two Thomas Goodenows came to America in 1638--one the son of Thomas and one the son of Edmund. Extensive research has been done on these two. No trace is found of the one following departure from England, but it is not known which child survived. Page 199 521761 Mass Probates Book 2 lists inventory of Thomas Goodenow Junr taken on 14 Dec 1663 by William Ward, Senr., Jno Rudduck and Thomas Goodenow. Signed 5 Apr 1664 by Joanna Goodenow (who was his wife). Research leaves us to suppose that this Thomas is the son of Thomas and that Thomas son of Edmund must have died sometime between the sailing date and the beginning of records in Sudbury, a period of about two years. "It was not (Thomas Goodenow, Sr.) but his son of the same name who married at Marlborough on December 18, 1662, Johannah, and who died there in 1663, on October 5th (according to the vital records, although his will, leaving his entire estate to his wife, Joanna, was dated November 25, 1663. The inventory of his estate, £51 5s, was taken December 14, 1663, and his will was proved April 5, 1664)."[3] References
