    Thomas C. Gillespie was the son of James Gillespie (1745-1787) and Jane (Graham) Gillespie (1742-1823). James Gillespie was the son of Thomas Gillespie (1719-1796) and Naomi Thompson (1728-1796), both buried at Thyatira.

    Thomas C. (possibly Cathey) Gillespie married Flora Margaret McKay on September 5, 1785, probably in Cumberland County, North Carolina. Their children were (as mentioned in Thomas's probate record in 1837 in Rowan County):
