Prob. he was of Salem 1670, that pt. now Middleton, and d. June 1698 aged 80, and m. 25 Aug. 1684, Sarah, wid. of John Wyman, d. of Miles Nutt.

  4. came to New England in 1638 with the intention of making an inspection of the new country and then returning to England. While in Massachusetts, he heard the preaching of the Reverend Thomas Shepard and was so inspired by the Puritan message that he decided to stay in America where he would be free to follow his new faith.
