Will of Hannuel Edwards Aug. Court 1769 Whereas, I HANNUEL EDWARDS of New garden in Rowan County North Carolina; being far advanced in years and well knowing the uncertainty of Life and the certainty of Death; at one Time or other; wherefore leave behind me the following Lines, as my last Will and Testament, that is to say principaley and first of all I recommend my Soul unto the Lord & my Body to the Earth to be interd in a Christian like decent manner at the Discression of my Executors hereafter named; and as touching such worldly substance wherewith I am possessed of, I have bequeath & dispose of the same in the following manner and Form I devise and it is my Will that all my just Debts & Contracts & funeral charges be paid & satisfied by my Execters. Item I give to my eldest son DAVID EDWARDS one hundred & fifty Acers of Land on the South side of the L. I live on to him & his hiairs forever, with paying equal quantity of Charges of getting Deed. Item. I give to my Son JOSUA EDWARDS one hundred fifty Acers of Land including the place he formerly lived on & the dividing to be between him and his Heirs forever with paying equal quantity of charges to the Quantity of Land for Deed. Item. I give to my Son ISAAC EDWARDS three hundred & forty Acers of Land including the plantation I now live on, it for the Use of my Wife and Family during her Live & after her Death, its for him and his Hiairs forever. Item. I lend to my Wife ELLENNER EDWARDS during her natural life (such) stock of all kinds Cattle sheep Horses & Hogs for her use and the children also the Household goods, & after her Death to be equally divided between my Son ISAAC EDWARDS and my Daughters ELIZABETH BROWN, HANNAH HARRIS, ELLENNER MARTHA & JANE EDWARDS to them & their hiars and it is my Will & Desire that each & every of them take care of my Daughter MARTHA. I also leave to my Wife my working Tools and plowirons during her Life, and after her Death to my Son ISAAC EDWARDS to him & his Hiairs forever. I appoint & constitute my two Sons JOSUA & ISAAC EDWARDS whole & sole Executers of this my last Will & Testament hereby diss ? & making void all other and former Wills Testements & Lagacies by me made or that may appear in my name. Confirming this and no other to be my last Will & Testament. In Witness whearof I hear unto set my Hand & Seal this fourteenth Day of the 11th month called November 1768. Signed sealed & acknowledged by the said HANUEL EWARDS to be his last Will & Testement in the presents of HENDERICK SIGERET his WILLIAM STANLEY HANUEL EDWARDS mark
