Downs, Thomas - born 8/22/1756 in Augusta County, Virginia; family moved in 1762 to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, where soldier entered service in 1776; granted Pension there in 1832; died 11/27/1839 leaving daughter Frankey Griffith, who resided Mecklenburg County, North Carolina in 1851; query letter in file states soldier was son of Zachariah [apparently incorrect]. F-S8337, R847.
