    25 Oct 1698 Leah Baker of Boston, widow and Nathaniel Byfield of Boston, merchant, whereas land purchased by Thomas Clark, Shopkeeper, Boston dec'd of Usal Wardell; did give grant to his daughter Elizabeth Stephens (afterwards Bligh) and unto the heirs of her body to be divided equally between his heirs, whereas the sd Elizabeth Stephens alias Bligh departed this life leaving no issue of her body.. the estate became the property of the sd Leah Baker and Deborah the wife of sd Nathaniel Byfield the two surviving children of the before named Thomas Clarke.
    [Note: this deed shows the father only had two surviving children on 25 Oct 1698, so Thomas had died by this date leaving no heirs.]
