Facts and Events
In referance to previous owner of Thomas's home in Salisbury, quote from Essex Antiquarian, Vol. 5, page 179, ' Thomas Carter home was formerly old Goodale's rye lot'. This Thomas Carter, of Salisbury, was identified as the 25-year-old servant aboard the Planter (as a servant to George Giddings) because 1) the known facts about Thomas Carter of Charlestown and Thomas Carter of Watertown are inconsistent with the age and station of the young servant in 1635, and 2) Thomas Carter of Salisbury became a freeman in 1638 along with other Ipswich men (the residence of George Giddings) and shortly after received a grant of land, consistent with him finishing his servitude.S1 References
