From Kerr & Kin web page: Thomas Carr was born in VA., probably in Albermarle Co. He married Ann Sanders, 27 Jan 1770. She was born 6 Feb 1750, died 10 Sept 1826. He died in Tennessee, 5 May 1821. Their children were: Thomas, Gideon, Eliza, John, Walter, Nancy, Richerdson, Betty, Susan, Sarah,Polly, and Lucy. Thomas Carr was born in Albermarle Co, VA, in 1771. He married Mary Harpole, who was born on the ocean in 1792. They were married 2 may 1811. He died 12 may 1858 & she on 24 June 1868. Their children were: (1) John Harpole Carr, b: 16 Apr 1812; married Miss Nea (2) Elizabeth Dice Carr, b: 8 Aug 1814, md: George Washington Stuart. (3) Martha Brown Carr, b: 8 Feb 1817, md: Mr. Hamil. (4) Thomas H. Carr, b: 4 Mar 1822 (5) Sarah Ann Carr, b: 26 Jan 1826, md: John Houston. (6) Cassandra Hill Carr, born in Tenn., 5 or 13 June 1830, md: Benjamin Russey, who Lived one year afterward, md: #2 June 1858 to Jacob Manly Sims.
The obituary of Thomas Carr was printed in the CENTRAL GAZETTE, Charlottesville, VA on 6 Jul 1821. "Died at his residence in Wilson County, TN, 5th May 1821, Thomas Carr, aged 79 years, he has left a widow and a very numerous offspring to lament their loss; he was a native of Virginia, his father, Gideon Carr (note: it appears his father was Thomas Carr and his BROTHER was Gideon Carr), was the first settler of the north side of the S.W. mountain where the deceased lived until he was 65 years old. He had long been a respectable member of the Baptist Church. May his godly walk prove a blessing to all who knew him." |
