!Thomas Ballard was a major protaganist in the early stages of the English

Civil War.  He fought at Edgehill, where, on the side of Parliament, he
commanded a Brigade of foot soldiers called "Ballard's Brigade".  According to
Mr. Steven Bullar (genealogist in England, with whom Kimber Norton Blatter has
made contact), Thomas Ballard is quite famous in England for his role in the
War.
