"[Editors' Note: The evidence above (that presented by Mahler) clearly shows that George1 Abbott had two living sons named Thomas, but undoubtedly by two different mothers. Having two living children with the same name was highly unusual but not unheard of.]"
Given what we know from the unfortunately incomplete record of his father's probate, Thomas Abbott, Jr. seems likely to have been born well before 1639 since he had received his full portion of the estate by 1654.
