Re: Surname: Noack by Glenn (gbclark@magna.ca) 5 Dec 2005 I have been looking for my ancestry on the Internet and I believe that I found my great grandmother under her maiden name. Her name was Mary Kossatz and I found her in the 1881 census spelled Mary Cusitts. I looked at my grandfather's baptismal certificate and one of the names appearing was Christian Kossatz. The father of Mary in the census record was Christian so I am pretty sure that this is the correct family. The year of birth also makes sense for Mary. Of interest to you is a younger brother, Theodore who was born in 1875. These records can be found on the Internet here http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp then by searching the 1881 Canadian census for Ontario, Renfrew North, Alice & Fraser Township using the surname Cusitts. You will find parents, and siblings here. There is also records for the grandparents as well. Kossatz tombstones can be found in a Lutheran cemetery just outside Pembroke on the road to the village of Alice and Round Lake. The cemetery is between Pembroke and the Highway 17 bypass so it is very close to town.
