    PIONEER RESIDENT PASSES BEYOND

Mrs. Abner McDonald Laid to Rest in Rose Hill Cemetery Sunday
    (By Rev. E A Anderson)

Mrs. Abner McDonald, a pioneer resident, passed away last Thursday, being a victim of apoplexy. She was overcome by heat in July from which she had seemingly recovered. On February 2nd she suffered a stroke and a final stroke on Monday morning, in which she was called to answer the final summons.

    Obituary

Miss Addle S Liscome was born in Plattville, Wisc., May 9, 1852, and passed to her eternal reward at the family residence in Eagle Grove, Iowa, Feb 21, 1924, at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 12 days.

She was united in marriage with Abner L. McDonald at Fenimore, Wis., Sept 6, 1873. To this union were born eight children. In 1877 the family moved onto a farm in Wright county, Iowa, later coming to Eagle Grove. Since 1877 they have been continuous residents of the county and have seen and experienced some of the early days with Wright county's early settlers.

In 1893 she confessed her faith in the Saviour and was baptized and united with the Baptist church, not being a charter member of the Eagle Grove church but associating herself with that church in the very early days of its history. She served in the many activities of the church and for many years has filled the office of church deaconess. She was always faithful in attendance at all the services of the church up to the very last excepting the last two months. She was always ready for service and a testimony for her Master in whom she had a supreme faith and trust. The church and the home will greatly miss her.

She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband, six children living. Myrtle and Mrs. W E Floyd of Eagle Grove; Mrs. H J Fulton, of Rapid City, S Dak.; John of Crescent City, Calif.; Charles, of Clinton, Iowa; Mrs. Harry Anderson, of Ames, Iowa. William and Lottie having preceded her in death. 11 grandchildren, one sister, Charlotte Bliss of Pierre, S. Dak., and other relatives and a host of friends.

She passed away in sleep, almost without a struggle, into what the poet so beautifully described: . . . .

The funeral services were held at the home and the Baptist church Sunday in charge of Rev. E. A. Anderson, and the Baptist choir sang. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Anderson, Ames. Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Charles McDonald and daughter, Betty, Clinton, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Fulton, Rapid City, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. C D McVicker and family, Hawarden, Iowa; Mrs. C. Cady and son, John McDonald, Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Lena Liscome and sons, Renwick, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hefty, Renwick, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Claude and son, Woolstock, Iowa; Edmond and Anna Malaise and Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Malaise, Woolstock Iowa, Mrs. Edward Goeble and grandson, Marvin, Fort Dodge Iowa.
