Stephen Washington: Biographical Information

Stephen Washington was the husband of Violet Washington. Violet and her brother Friday Johnson are of interest for our research because they may have ties to Drayton family plantations in Charleston, South Carolina. You may read more about them by clicking on Violet's name in the family group sheet below.

We know little of Stephen's life before he married Violet. In the 1870 and 1880 Census records, Stephen's birthplace, and that of both of his parents, is given as Georgia. In the 1900 Census his birthplace is listed as South Carolina.

We would like to learn more about Stephen's family heritage and early life and would be grateful if you have information and/or documents to share. Please do contact us if you know more about Stephen's family!

Please note: Rose is listed in the Census as Violet and Stephen's adopted daughter.
