Jackson in Fell family notes: 'Son of Stephen Pomeroy & Hannah (Bailey) Jackson - of Jane Lew West VA" and on page 52: "They both lead useful lives and were most highly esteemed by all who knew them. They lived in the town of Jane Lew and more to keep from being imposed upon than as a source of profit they kept hotel. S. P. Jackson was polite and courteous but quick to resent an affront. He was major of militia an office not of his own seeking and when asked to run for the legislature, expressed himself as opposed to accepting any office that would take him out of his county'."
