Person:Sophie Kovarsky (1)

One of seven children born to Karl Kovarsky and his first wife, name unknown (possibly Pauline), who died at age 30 ca. 1883 delivered of her eighth child who also died due to lack of a wet nurse. Siblings were first born boy who stayed in Russia (descendants disappeared in Holocaust), Henry who came to America as Henry Nathan, Sophie, Rose, Eva, Sam and Hyman who all took the surname Nathan when they followed Henry to America. Sophie married and had children in New York City, but names unknown.

My name is Jeff Malet (maletphoto@aol.com) I am related to this family thru Sophie's mother Pauline Malatzky Kovarsky. Sophie (1873-1952) was buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Maspeth Queens NY in the Vidzer Burial Society section next to her husband Max Sparber. They buried an unnamed infant in 1907. She was born in Vidzy, now in Belarus but then part of Czarist Russia.
