Sophia Warner was baptised on 18th September 1842 at Wheathampstead in Hertfordshire, daughter of Mary Warner, formerly Swallow, and her husband Francis Warner, an agricultural labourer. The family lived at Coldharbour, in the neighbouring parish of Harpenden. Sophia had a twin brother called Thomas, but he died as a small baby. Early in 1844 Sophia's father died. Later that year, Sophia herself died when she was just under two years old. She was buried in Harpenden on 7th May 1844.
