March 20, 1891 Francie went to Byers Hill Ohio to work for and live with Aunt Cora and husband who was a doctor (Dr. Blott). She returned to Michigan 1892.

"One year at Christmas Francie asked us all over for dinner at Fruitport. Alfred, Annie's husband came after me in a cutter. Francie was roasting turkey in a gasoline stove. The fire went out and when she filled the tank she spilled some on her clothes. They caught fire and all the clothes burned off her except her shoes. I stayed there two weeks to help take care of her. She was badly burned and lived eleven days."
