Notes
From "Sequatchie Families" by James L. Douthat, pg. 98:
Solomon Stephens was in the Virginia Militia under Captain James Barnett, who was engaged against the Indians in the Southwest (Virginia) and also the Tories during the Revolutionary War. Solomon was wounded during the war. He returned home and died shortly thereafter from the wound. Molly, left with three small children, married again. According to the family tradition, Isaac, the only son, did not like his stepfather so when about nine years old, he went to live with the family of John and Anna Davis of Montgomery County, Virginia. This moved to Meigs County, Tennessee. Isaac married their daughter, Anna, in January, 1803.
