Presbyterian Banner and Advocate, Jun 18, 1859, p3

DIED--At his residence in Lawrenceville Borough, on the 12th of May, Dr. Solomon Jones, aged 60 years.

The deceased was born near Utica, New York, but has long been a resident of Pittsburgh. He was universally know as a cautious, upright business man, needing no bond but his word. He was for many years a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and died while in communion with the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church. As he advanced in life, his interest in all that concerned the Church of God appeared to deepen. During his last illness, his physical sufferings were extreme, while his mind remained wonderfully clear until the last hour. Often he complained of darkness, and feared that his Savior would not be nigh in the last struggle, but he learned to trust his soul, and body, and family into the hands of Jesus, without reserve. He appeared to have such a view of heaven, as a continuation of life, that he offered to deliver a message for a neighbor, to his son, lately deceased, saying that he would see him in a very few days. While the family were singing the lines, "If Justice calls for sinners blood, The Saviour shows his own," he had such a rapturous view of Jesus introducing him to his Father, as a poor blood bought sinner, that his fears all vanished, and he longed to depart. A few minutes before he died, he requested to be lifted up nearer heaven; and soon after fell back and breathed his last. While his family and friends mourn his absence, they look forward to a reunion in the land where, " Sickness and sorrow, pain and death, Are felt and feared no more."               R.L.

  2.   It is known that by 1884 Alfred Jones, son of Martha Hawkins and Solomon Jones, was living once again in the Pittsburgh area and since Martha moved to Cleveland with her son and his family, it was reasonable to assume that she moved back to Pittsburgh with them; recently I found the on-line listings for Allegheny Cemetery in Lawrenceville, Allegheny Co, PA with both Solomon and Martha's graves sited.
