Simon can be found in the following census: 1860 Southampton Twp., Somerset, PA Federal Census 1870 Wellersburg, Somerset, PA Federal Census 1880 Summit Twp., Somerset, PA Federal Census SIMON BEAL Army-Private. Served 8/11/63-6/13/65 Unit: Company C, 11th Regiment West Virginia Infantry Burial: White Oak Cemetery, Larimer Twp Doug Beal Posted: Wednesday, March 11, 1998-Trying to locate parents names and information regarding Simon BEAL of Greenville Twp. Simon married Lavina Maude (HUTZEL) who was born 1856. Simon was likely born abt 1850-1856. Children of Simon and Lavina were 1.George William (1874-1942) m Emma CHRISNER 2. Lavina Elizabeth Maude (1894-1989) m Charles KOONTZ 3. Perry 4. Daniel 5. Benjamin 6. Susan m Louis HUGMAYERS 7. Emma m Harry ACKERMAN 8 Julia m Adam HAHN 9. Simon > I suspect that this line will connect to Peter Biel who was born in 1747 in PA. Any help on my BEAL line would be greatly appreciated. Willing to share!. Doug Beal Posted: 27 Mar 1999 12:00PM GMT-Surnames: BEAL, NEWMAN, BLOCHER, HUTZEL, MEYERS-I received the civil war records for Simon BEAL of Wellersburg, Somerset Co. Census records show Simon was born 1847 and was the son of George Nicholas Beal a farmer of Wellersburg, Somerset Co. This connection is very clear to the Wellersburg and Jacob BIEL line of Allegheny County, MD, or so I thought. These new records (with Simon's signature) list Simon's birth date as Sept 19, 1839 in Harrisburg PA. Immediately before the war (1860) he was listed as a farmer in Wellersburg. After the war he first married Ellen Newman who divorced and married Bud Blocher. He then married Lavina HUTZEL in 1872. Lavina later married Dennis Meyers of Meyersdale. Simon died 1909 and is buried in the White Oak cemetary. Does anyone on this list have a SIMON BEAL born 1839?? Does anyone have any Wellersburg area BEAL family orginating in the Harrisburg PA area about 1839?? I am tore between the census data and the civil war records. The muster-in records show Simon as 18 years of age, but records for the next previous years also list him as 18 years of age. So the civil war records and war pension records don't even agree. I am very confused with the conflicting information. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Doug Beal Image Gallery
