Silas A. HOOVER

Silas A. HOOVER, who keeps a livery and feed stable at Seymour, MO., was born in Webster County, February 1, 1859,and is a son of Jesse and Amanda A. (CROSS) HOOVER, who were natives of the "Old North State," and were therereared and married. They moved to Missouri in 1854,settling on a farm, where they reared their family, andhere Silas A. HOOVER grew to manhood. February 28, 1878,he was married in Douglas County, to Miss Martha Ellen, adaughter of William CARRICK, who was formerly from NorthCarolina. She was born in North Carolina, and thereresided until fifteen years of age, when she came to Missouri with her parents, and settled in Douglas County.After their marriage, they farmed for seven years, and thenmoved to Seymour and engaged in the livery business, inwhich he has been quite successful. His business was established in 1885, and he is now the owner of two good stables, and commands a lucrative patronage. He is amember of the I.O.O.F., and he and wife are consistentmembers of the Baptist Church, and the parents of the following named children: Ida S., Daniel A., Amanda E.,Mary E., and William S.
