Facts and Events
[edit] About Shadrack DuggerShadrack Dugger was born 11 Mar 1774 (source?) probably in Brunswick Co, VA. Shadrack may be a son of Alexander and Ann (---) Dugger, though that connection isn't certain. Shadrack married in Orange Co., NC (1793) while Alexander was living in that same county, and they seemed to have gone to Greene Co., TN together, so that is further proof they are closely related. Shadrack was bondsman for the 1804 marriages of James Dugger and David Dugger, suggesting the three of them were brothers. They are also thought to be Alexander's children, so that ties them all together somewhat. On 16 Oct 1793 Shadrach Dugger obtained a marriage bond in Orange Co., NC to marry Salley Hogan. Benjamin Yeargin was bondsman. On 10 Apr 1804 Shadrack Duggar was bondsman for the Greene Co., TN Marriage bond for James Duggar and Anne Stanley. On 11 Jul 1804 Shadrack Dugger was bondsman for the Greene Co., TN Marriage bond for David Dugger and Catherine Bailey. On 2 Feb 1805, Deed in Greene Co., TN: 92. The execution on another deed of conveyance from Shadrack Dugger to Sylvanus Brown, dated 2nd February 1805 for Ninety two acres of land on a south fork of Lick Creek was duly proven by the Oaths of Moses Johnston and Jesse Mosley two of the subscribing witness thereto and Ordered to be Registered. [Greene County TN Deeds 1802-1818]. On 12 Feb 1805, Deed in Greene Co., TN: 50. The execution of another deed of conveyance from Shadrack Dugger to Sylvanus Brown, dated 12th February 1805 for fifty acres of land on a branch of the south Branch of Lick Creek, was duly proven by the Oaths of Moses Johnston and Jesse Mosley two of the subscribing witness, there to and ordered to be Registered. [Greene County TN Deeds 1802-1818]. "Shadrick Duger" was listed on the 1809 Sumner Co., TN tax list. The 1810 census is lost for most of Tennessee. Shadrack was listed on the 1820 census in Maury Co., TN as was his presumed brothers Joseph and David as well as his presumed father Alexander Dugger. Shadrack had a very large family at this time. Perhaps some of the residents were not his own children.
Shadrack was still in Maury for the 1830 census. His household wasn't quite as full this year.
Shadrack was still in Maury for the 1840 census listed near his probable brother Joseph Dugger and Catherine, widow of his probable brother Alexander Dugger.
Shadrack and family were listed on the 1850 census in neighboring Giles Co., TN. His index entry lists them as Denger and it does look like that, but I think it says "Duger" instead.
Shadrack Dugger died on 5 May 1851 (source?) in Giles Co., TN. |
