"… Sarah Wardwell, born (if records are correct), in 1682 …; died in Bristol, Oct. 11, 1771, aged 89 years. … In the opinion of the compiler there is a mistake of ten years in the age of Sarah. It is possible she was one year older than Nathaniel, but not at all probable that she was 11 years older. Presumably the town cler, intending to write 79 had it in mind that she was nearly 80 so made a slip and wrote 89; …"

Her youngest known child was born in 1725. Therefore, she would have been 43 if born in 1682 or 33 if born in 1692. The five youngest children of Sarah's parents were recorded at Bristol between 1684 and 1693. There is room for Sarah in that family between Benjamin, born 1688, and the twins, born in 1693, but it seems likely that Sarah would have also been recorded had she been born during that period.
