Know Ye that for good causes for and in consideration of the composition to me paid and for the annual Rent hereinafter reserved, I have given granted and confirmed and by these presents for me my heirs and assigns do give grant and confirm unto James Davis of Frederick a certain Tract of waste and ungranted Land near Potomac in the said county and bounded as by a survey thereof made by Mr John Mauzy. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Wills : Robert Davis is listed as an heir in the will of Edward Flower of Kennet, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Proved at Chester County 31, May 1732. Book E, page 187. Executor: Richard Flower (brother). Witnesses: Thoms Harland, Robert Davis.

On 19 Sep 1743 John Harlan (eldest son of George Harlan dec.) & Sarah his wife & Robert Davis & Dinah his wife, daughter of George Harlan, Michall, Joell & George, sons of the said George Harlan to Stephen White, who married Rebeckah Harland, daughter of George Harlan, all of Bradford. Whereas the commissions of property under William Penn, governor, by virtue of a warrant granted to Michall Harland of Kennett, 2500 acres of land to be laid out in County dated 15 Sep 1714, & by virtue of said warrant there was laid out to Michall Harlan 2606 acres. Whereas Michael Harlan by his will dated 15 Feb 1728 bequeathed to his son George Harlan one moiety of land purchased being on a branch of Elk River & passes near my son in law Flower's house to be the boundary & whereas George Harlan by his will did give his other land to his widow & other children but as to that part of his estate lying on the Elk river, legacy given to him & his heirs by his father, he made no provision. This day Dinah Davis appeared before Thomas Swearingen, gent. & acknowledged herself to be fully satisfied with the with in deed & was not forced to it, which was taken before Thomas Swearingen on 3 May 1746. Chester County, Pennsylvania, Wills, Book D, Page 27 - I, Robert Davis of the Township of Kennet in the County of Chester in the Province of Pennsylvania. Yeoman, being sick and weak of Body but of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my Body to be buried in a decent manner at ye discretion of my Executor hereafter named. Secondly, I order my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid by my Executor out of my Estate. Item. I do hereby empower my Executor to perform all and every act or acts which I myself stands bound to Execute unto George Miles mentioned in a written agreement now in the Care of Thomas Harlan to all intents and purposes as myself might or could have done were I personally present. Item, I order my Plantation and tract of land that I purchased from the Executors of James Rouse, situate in ye said Township of Kennet containing about 150 acres to be sold for the very most price that can be gotten for the same at publick or private sale hereby also empowering her to make as good a title for ye same as I myself could do were I personally present. I likewise order and direct that my Executor be entirely ruled and governed by my trusty friends Aaron Baker and Thomas Harlan when and in what manner my said Plantation shall be sold as aforesaid and also in relation to he bringing up and educating my children. Item, after all my just debts are paid out of my real and personal estate that the remainder I give the one third part thereof unto my loving wife, Dinah, and the other two thirds to be equally divided amongst my Children or the survivors of them share and share alike. Lastly, I constitute and appoint my loving wife, Dinah Davis, my whole and sole Executor to this my last will and testament disannulling and making void all other wills by me heretofore made. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 29th day of April 1760.

Robert married Dinah Harlan daughter of George Harlan and Mary Baily on 31 May 1740 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Dinah was born about 1720 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. She died after 1770 in Lincoln County, Kentucky.

Frederick County, Virginia, Deeds, Book 6, Pages 9 & 10 Lease & (Release) - 27 Jun 1760 - Dinah Davis, Executrix of last will & Testament of Robert Davis, late of County Chester in the Province of Pennsylvania to George Myles... Whereas said Robert Davis by Articles of Agreement entered into with said George Myles in the lifetime of Robert Davis... to convey unto said George Myles one tract of land... containing 400 acres...excepting out of said tract 27 acres before that time bargained for and surveyed for Gasper Boner, it being the tract of land which said Robert Davis purchased from James Davis... said Dinah Davis in and for considerations of 5 shillings (£202.10)... The land lies on Tulisses Branch. Signed Dinah Davis, in the presence of no one. Recorded 1 Jul 1760.

Dinah married her second cousin James Harlan on July 1, 1762 at Holy Trinity [Old Swedes] Church at Wilmington, Delaware. Soon after their marriage, they returned to Frederick County, Virginia.

Frederick County, Virginia, Deeds, Book 13, Page 374 & 375 Lease & (Release) 7 Aug 1770 - James Harland & Dinah his wife, of Frederick County to John Davis of County aforesaid - consideration of 5 shillings (£50)... 280 acres on both sides of the road to the warm springs on a ridge near the head of Back Creek Mountain, surveyed and returned by Thomas Rutherford. Bounded as follows: Beginning at a Spanish Oak standing upon the side of a hill near a small drain of Cherry's Branch and running N 67 W 140 poles to two Chestnut Oaks, thence N 23 E 320 poles to a Chestnut and a Gum tree, then S 67 E 140 poles to two White Oaks saplins, then S 23 W 320 poles to the beginning. Signed James Harlan and Dinah Harlan. Witnesses: James Davis, William Baxtor, John Davis and John Potts. Recorded 7 Aug 1770.

Shortly after, James and Dinah moved to Lincoln County, Kentucky, settling in what is today Boyle County.
