    [page 1]

    Sparta June 8, 1880

1 Well, dear Lucy I can not tell you
2 how glad we all are to get a letter
3 from you after waiting so long and
4 wondering so much that you did not
5 write, Smith would often say how
6 strange it is that Lucy don’t write.
7 I have got one letter from Hannah and
8 have written to her on a card but
9 did not know whether she got it or
10 not as she has not written me since
11 We thank you very much for your
12 kind letter and the pictures also
13 we are all usually well on as [Oras?] folks
14 also it has been quite sickly about
15 here and a good many deaths since
16 you were here but I am yet spared
17 for some purpose I hope to do good
18 now I will tell you what a feast

    [page 2]
    1 I had on my 77th birthday
2 or the same week I got a letter from
3 all my boys and six of my grand
4 children all birthday letters I wish you
5 could see them all I hope you will
6 come and see us again you can’t expect
7 to see me live a great while longer
8 you and Hannah are all there is
9 that I can talk with about your
10 dear mother O how much I think of
11 her in my lonely hours how much
12 I have thought of the last visit
13 that we had together., may we all live in
14 a manner that through Jesus Christ we
15 may be blessed with a happy entr-
16 ance into His kingdom and there meet
17 our loved ones…Give my love to all
18 your family to Hannah and her
19 family please all write soon
20 much love from Aunt Sally

[note written upside-down at top of page 2]
