  4.   Original Letter from BC Taber & Co dated 10 July 1952, describing his grandmother.

The death of "Eliza" Taber, age 34, Nativity, England, is reported as 27 Jan 1844 at 15 Watts Street in the NYC Municipal Archives. However, the Death Register of the German Evangelical Lutheren Church states the date of death as 24 Jan 1844, and that "Eliza" is a married woman. The address was the residence of Thomas Taber in 1843-1844. The suspicion is that this is the death of "Sarah Ann" Taber and that "Eliza," as the sister-in-law was reporting the death, when the name of the deceased was confused with the reporter. Supporting this suspicion is information in a letter written by Thomas C. Taber on 10 July 1952, "Sarah died after about fourteen married years." As she married in 1830, this would place Sarah's death in 1844. However, the N.Y. Herald and The N.Y. Evening Post were researched. No death notice was found.

Sarah's age was incorrectly reported as three years younger than her correct age on the ship's passenger list and on her death certificate.

This baptism for Sarah Ann Rogerson seems likely as it is in the geographical area in which this Sarah Ann's marriage took place. However, the year 1807 would make Sarah Ann about three years old than as reported on other documents.
