Genealogical History of the Rice Family : Descendants of Deacon Edmund Rice, Who Came from Barkhamstead, England and Settled at, p. 7, says that the Boston Gazette says Sarah "d. at age of 80" [making her death abt. 1742] in a report on the longevity of the Rice family (this is probably the same report as the one printed in NEHGR 13:140, based on an interview with Gershom Rice at age 100 about the longevity of his own family), but this article has been proved to have overstated several other ages, so this is probably of doubtful accuracy.
- Source:Ward, Andrew Henshaw. Genealogical History of the Rice Family : Descendants of Deacon Edmund Rice, Who Came from Barkhamstead, England and Settled at, p. 7, says that Sarah married a Mr. Adams (based on mother's will of 1710 calling her Sarah Adams) and that she was dismissed to church in Concord 16 Feb 1682 (as Sarah Rice or Sarah Adams?). No record of her marriage has been found.
Ward speculates about a William Adams who lived in Sudbury and moved to Concord. If so, she was his second wife, since the children in Sudbury had a mother named Elizabeth. As Ward points out, the births of Elizabeth, Mary, and Frances Adams do not mention a mother, but he apparently missed the later births of Margaret and Anna which still show a mother Elizabeth, and so this speculation is disproved.
Edmund Rice Assocation identifies her husband as John Adams. She would still be a second wife in this scenario, as there are several children born to John and Hannah (Bent) Adams between 1683 and 1690, before the birth of Adams, Thomas, s. John and Sarah, Oct. 21, 1706 (Sudbury VRs, p. 10). However, other sources (e.g., Source:Barry, William. History of Framingham, Massachusetts, p. 166; Source:Cutter, William Richard. New England Families, Genealogical and Memorial, p. 2:640) do not show a second marriage for this John Adams.
