21 Jan 1904, p 3 - Mrs. Sarah Creitz, wife of D.Z. Creitz, died quite suddenly last Thursday morning at the family home north of town. she was in failing health for some time, but no serious thought of her early demise was given. Her maiden name was Hilsinger and she was born in Allentown, Pa., 71 years ago. She came to this county about 1850 to visit a half sister, Mrs. Jonathan Kuster, and it was while here that she met and in 1854 married Mr. Creitz. The ceremony occurred at the Lutheran parsonage in East Germantown and was the first marriage solemnized in this State by the Rev. Julius Stirewait. They began life on the Zehner farm, which is now owned by Mr. Creitz, and here their children were born - Mrs. Alice J. Meckel, of Muncie, Mrs. Maggie Kepler, of East Germantown, and Mrs. Ida Sweeney and W.A. Creitz, of this city. Early in life Mrs. Creitz became a member of the Lutheran church, and to the Christian's hope she was ever faithful. She was an indulgent parent, a noble wife and an excellent neighbor. In all the relations of life she bore her part well and passed to her reward amid the universal regret of many relatives and warm friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Lutheran church in Germantown, Saturday afternoon last, by Rev. Martens. The attendance was very large. Interment in the family lot in the adjoining cemetery.
